To celebrate the Society's 50th birthday, we are reviving a classic shown in the first season. Smiles of a Summer Night pre-dates the introspective and desperate films for which Bergman is better known. But this vicious comedy of manners is nevertheless black, cynical, amoral - and a lot of fun.
