Director Hikari, known for the popular Netflix series Beef, shows off her range with this engaging tale, set in modern-day Tokyo.  Brendan Fraser gives a nuanced performance as a washed-up American actor who lands a job working for a Japanese ‘rental family’ agency, playing stand-in roles for strangers.  Hikari’s years of research into Japan’s real-life agencies gives the film a refreshing authenticity and makes it more than a good-natured comedy-drama.
