COMING SOON!

The 67^th season of the Society ended in March and will be returning in September.  The Society committee are in the process of selecting the 18 titles for the 68^th season; society members have also been responding to the request for suggestions.

The selections are aided each year by previews of new releases: the Independent Cinema Office organised the streaming of over 20 titles whilst the South West Group of Cinema for All (formally British Federation of Film Societies) held a Viewing Session in April….in the Corn Exchange, as hosts of our film society.

The Dorchester event marked the 50^th anniversary of the re-launch of the SW Group in 1976 with a Viewing at the Colliton Club.  This year, sixty-five members from twenty SW film societies previewed six new releases in two venues: the main hall of the Corn Exchange building and the Town Council Chamber with the audience surrounded by the two town maces and the many plaques for previous town mayors.  The programme included the latest film from the courageous Iranian director, Jafar Panahi, It Was Just an Accident and the Norwegian film Sentimental Value which just pipped Panahi in the race for the Best International Feature Film Oscar earlier this year.

The final film programme will be confirmed by August and membership will be open for the 68^th season, starting on Wednesday 16th September in the Corn Exchange.
