Almodóvar's latest film is as absorbing and sensuous as his previous work. Its focal point the affair of two schoolboys and its destruction by an abusive priest is refracted through fantasy, flashback, deceit and illusion, producing a complex comic melodrama. Occasionally shocking and endlessly intriguing.
