Breathing (Atmen) tells the story of Roman, a teenage inmate of a juvenile detention centre, who is trying to get parole by working in a Viennese morgue. Initially he is lonely and isolated but, through his job, his life gradually changes. Though raw and, at times, bleak, this is a compassionate film, with a brilliant central performance by Thomas Schubert.
