Phyllida Lloyd’s third film as director is a departure from her previous more mainstream titles, The Iron Lady and Mamma Mia!, being a domestic drama set in Dublin. Co-writer, Clare Dunn, also takes the lead and gives an exceptional performance as a determined young single mother struggling against bureaucracy and an abusive ex-partner to literally build a home for herself and her two young daughters. A strong supporting cast, led by Harriet Walter, makes for an affecting and exciting modern drama.
