The latest film from the Italian director of Gomorrah and Dogman follows the tough journey of two young Senegalese cousins from Dakar to Italy in search of a better life. On their Odyssey, they trek across the Sahara on foot, encounter appalling people-traffickers and cross the Mediterranean in a rotting boat. Garrone’s brilliantly filmed but challenging feature was nominated for an Oscar and won many awards including the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.
